One Easy Healthy Living Tip

1 healthy living tip

If you wanted to live a healthier life and speed up your fitness transformation what is the first change to implement?

It may surprise you, but the one healthy living tip I recommend to everyone is getting more sleep! Millions of American’s haven’t had a good nights sleep in years.

As life gets busier and busier and we try to fit more into the day many of us are staying up later and waking up earlier. Not a good combination!  Most of us don’t intentionally plan to sleep poorly, but our poor bedtime habits often make bad nights sleep self-inflicted.

We are well aware that a night spent tossing and turning causes, grumpiness, and lack of focus just to name a few side effects, but did you know that it can also impact your sex life, memory, and your ability to lose weight?

Why search for the latest productivity hack when the healthy living tip that will improve your productivity is right under your nose or your pillow as the case may be?

Pick a one healthy living tip, do it consistently for one week and see what happens to your sleep

1.  Go to bed and wake at the same time.

Did you know that the latest Apple IOS has a bedtime function in the clock? You can set the alarm to let you know when it is time to start getting ready for bed. It can help you get to sleep on time and at the same time nightly!

2  Change your Mattress or Pillows

Have you ever slept in a motel with an uncomfortable bed? Exactly! But what about pillows? If your pillow is more than 6-12 months old, it’s time to change that too!

3.  Turn off your devices

A few years back I started reading all my books on my Pad, the convenience of having any book I wanted in one place lured me in. Did you know that the blue wavelength light emitted from our devices can disrupt circadian rhythms and the melatonin production in our bodies which contributes to our ability to sleep?

If you just can’t turn your device off, scientists suggest lowering the brightness or load an app that filters blue wavelength.

4.  Install a programmable thermostat

Not only is it nice to have a cool room to sleep in but a warm room to wake up. It’s also an excellent way to save on heating costs.

5.  Don’t underestimate the power of exercise!

A 20-minute walk can refresh during the day and contribute to a better nights rest

Still can’t get a good nights sleep? Watch what you eat and drink during the day, be especially wary of products containing caffeine.

Perhaps meditation will relax you, or some mantras might help those eyelids to get heavy.

Having a chronic issue with sleep? Perhaps it’s time to find a Sleep Center near you.
