One Key for Unparalleled Post Exercise Recovery

A person holding his leg in need of help for post exercise recoveryThe keyword research for this post showed astronomical differences in the number of searches for how to stay fit over 40 versus being fit after 50. Not much of a surprise. As an aging athlete, just shy of my 54th birthday I can personally attest that things have changed.

In addition to being an aging athlete, I have the pleasure of coaching several Masters Athletes. As a group, we tend to be driven and occasionally stubborn. Qualities that have likely served us well. It comes as little surprise; there is one significant fact regarding aging that most of us are reluctant to accept. Our bodies are changing, and as a result, we must be willing to do things differently.

If we are intent on remaining healthy and optimally fit things we did as few as five years ago may not serve us today. Aiding our bodies in achieving optimal post exercise recovery after a workout is one of those areas.

If you are active in a sport or exercise regularly, you are putting your body under stress. All types of stress, good or bad need to be managed. Proper post exercise recovery is fundamental to helping our bodies cope with workout induced stress and remaining fit over 50.

According to LiveStrong,  post workout nutrition is critical for rebuilding, and B vitamins are indispensable.

How do you get the B Vitamins you need? Whole food is the best answer, yet most of us don’t eat as we should. Unfortunately, healthy eating alone no longer guarantees that your body is getting everything it demands.

Muscle soreness and fatigue plagued my preparation for a half marathon so severely it nearly derailed my training. That’s when I stumbled on Overdrive. It promised to aid in post exercise recovery. At first, I was a bit skeptical but in just a few weeks it reduced my muscle soreness and hastened the recovery periods between workouts.

One of the main ingredients in Overdrive is B vitamins, essential for the proper metabolism of carbohydrates fats and proteins. If you don’t have enough B vitamins, you won’t metabolize as efficiently. Since B vitamins are water-soluble they are easily absorbable. Conversely, they are also easy to flush away, which may leave us depleted.

Along with B vitamins, which are crucial for quicker post exercise recovery,  Overdrive contains proteolytic enzymes. Proteolytic enzymes help with the discomfort and the physical recovery of the body.  These come from things like bromelain which is an extract from pineapple and papen from papaya.

In addition to helping the body with recovery, B vitamins assist mitochondrial energy production during athletic performance. The combination of ingredients in Overdrive work on the mitochondria of our cells, which is the powerhouse or battery that produces energy. Increased energy will have you feeling and performing better as you exercise. Let’s face it who doesn’t want increased energy?

Efficient recovery and enhanced performance are a powerful one-two punch for any Masters Athlete who wants to remain fit after 50.
